Unregulated advisors in the Tax Sector

Around a third of the people operating in the accountancy and tax sector are unregulated.

Sofia Thomas is a member of the AAT Tax Panel. The AAT has long argued has long argued that anyone offering paid for tax, and accountancy services should be a member of a professional body.

If you’re unsure if your SJE is appropriately qualified, the most common tax and accountancy certifications are AAT, ATT, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, CIOT, ICAS, ICAEW, STEP.

This is an important issue which we are delighted that the AAT are being so vocal on.

The Tax Panel is a group of external tax professionals, AAT members, and tax and accountancy journalists, who meet twice a year to discuss topical issues and agree on suggested action to tackle challenges and/or take advantage of various opportunities arising in the world of tax and accountancy.
